Job Description

BLS is seeking a professional with advanced technical skills in a variety of tax, small business and consulting areas, including preparation and review of work papers, reports and returns needed for tax compliance, and compilation and review engagements.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan, execute and supervise the full scope of complex tax returns and special assignments
  • Perform technical review of all tax returns of any complexity
  • Act as liaison between the client and the Manager or Director
  • Prepare and review compilation and review financial statements
  • Resolve accounting problems and tax issues
  • Stay compliant with pronouncements of professional and other regulatory groups
  • Mentor new staff on assignments, while simultaneously performing efficiently on engagements
  • Prepare staff evaluation reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years public accounting experience in an increasingly complex consulting, individual and business tax environment
  • CPA certification
  • Working knowledge of small business tax compliance
  • Strong supervisory experience and client relations skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel to same-day work at client locations
  • Working knowledge of ProSystems/Axcess software, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Microsoft Office, and other programs related to tax planning, depreciation, and accounting
