The Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Corrections, is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of youth placed in our care. This position is based out of the Grow Academy in Oregon, WI (Dane County), which is a residential program offering comprehensive treatment for County and State supervised youth as an alternative to incarceration as well as a step down for youth returning to the community.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for security, programing, operations schedule and general living conditions of all youth at the Grow Academy
Primary responsibility for the supervision and work assignments of Youth Counselors and Youth Counselor - Advanced assigned to the same shift
Implementation of the goals, policies and procedures of the assigned post
Work within a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions, including going outside to oversee and supervise youths
Work in close physical proximity to youths and other staff members in situations that may be noisy
Requirements:
Experience performing supervision related activities and practices (e.g., assigning, directing, and evaluating work
disciplinary matters, providing training and coaching)
Experience with youth programming and therapy approaches
Experience performing security related tasks, such as conducting rounds, inspecting security equipment, supervising residents (youths, patients, persons in our care, etc.)
Experience planning programs, setting goals and objectives, and monitoring work plans for effective program implementation
Experience monitoring and evaluating security standards, policies and/or procedures in a non-secure residential facility
