Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Supervising Social Worker to join their Kinship Support Team based at Groby Road, Glenfield. This is a crucial, short-term role required to cover a staff sickness for a maximum of 6 months. Because we need to ensure continuity of care and support for our kinship carers and children, we are looking for a professional who can hit the ground running and start immediately.
Job Responsibility
Provide robust supervision, guidance, and emotional support to connected persons and kinship carers
Assess the needs of kinship families, identifying and implementing support packages to ensure long-term placement stability
Ensure all kinship placements adhere to relevant fostering regulations, national minimum standards, and local authority policies
Work closely with child care social workers, schools, health professionals, and support groups to advocate for the needs of the kinship family
Requirements
Proven, strong experience working directly within a Local Authority Kinship Support Team as a supervising social worker
Deep understanding of the specific challenges, legal frameworks, and emotional dynamics surrounding connected persons and kinship care
Active Social Work England registration and an enhanced DBS check
Must be available to start immediately and commit to a contract of up to 6 months
