Job Description

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a rewarding permanent role in the North East? My Foster Carer Ltd (MFC) is seeking a highly skilled Supervising Social Worker to join our team. We are looking for a practitioner who brings significant experience in children's social care to provide safe, effective, and child-centred support to our foster carers. This role offers the perfect balance of professional autonomy through home-based working combined with meaningful, face-to-face impact across County Durham and the wider region.

Job Responsibility

  • Support & Supervision: Provide regular, high-quality supervision to an allocated caseload of foster carers (at least monthly)
  • Child Advocacy: Ensure the child's voice is at the heart of your practice, visiting children in placement at least bi-monthly to monitor their well-being
  • Assessments & Panels: Complete analytical Form F assessments and produce high-level reports for presentation to the fostering panel
  • Placement Stability: Facilitate safe matching and placement planning while working collaboratively with local authorities and partner agencies
  • Compliance: Maintain practice in strict accordance with Fostering Services Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards
  • Duty Support: Participate in the out-of-hours/duty rota as required

Requirements

  • A recognized Social Work Qualification and current registration with Social Work England
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social care with a robust background in safeguarding
  • Proven ability to write high-quality, analytical reports and manage a complex caseload effectively
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and a willingness to use the CHARMS system
  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for regional travel

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working within an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA)
  • Experience presenting to fostering panels or supporting ADM decision-making
