Job Description:

To facilitate and directly supervise contact sessions ("family time") between children and their family members, ensuring the environment is safe, protective, and child-focused in line with the agreed-upon contact plan. To ensure contact venues are suitable, including preparation and clean-up. To directly intervene in a session if, in professional judgement, the immediate safety of the child requires it. To objectively observe interactions, assessing the quality of parenting, the nature of the relationship, and the impact of the contact on the child. To contribute to ongoing assessments of family strengths and needs. To accurately and timely record observations, interactions, and significant details of the sessions, ensuring they are evidence-based and in accordance with council policies. To prepare detailed reports, and sometimes statements, for use by the social work team, Principal Managers, and in court proceedings (legal proceedings). To constantly assess and manage risk during the contact sessions and be responsible for the safeguarding of the children at all times. To respond to any child protection concerns immediately and report them to the line manager or Duty Social Worker. To work with families and social work teams to develop and review contact plans, ensuring they reflect and utilise community resources where appropriate. ...
