The responsibilities of this job are all production related activities for the “Coater” operation, including safety, environmental, quality, production, and employee relations. This includes the direction of supervision and hourly operators. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Job Responsibility:
Identify, plan, and coordinate continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and profitability initiatives of “Coater”
Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment, procedure adherence, and emphasis in reducing workplace risks
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading a team to achieve year-over-year improvements
Develop strategies that improve operating efficiencies, employee engagement, and technical development of personnel
Plan, organize, and execute scheduled maintenance outages on the paper machine and associated auxiliary equipment
Capability to solve complex technical problems and coater issues
Collaborate with other segments of the business to get support for coater needs including quality, maintenance, and product development
Develop direct reports to ensure bench strength and leadership skills.
Requirements:
Expert troubleshooting skills and techniques to solve quality and operational issues on paper machines
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Previous supervisor experience in a union environment is required
Willingness to work off-schedule hours as needed to support the operation as required
Minimum high school or equivalent education
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field is preferred
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar personal computer programs
Successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).
