Job Responsibility
Manage tailings facilities to ensure safe storage, environmental compliance to regulatory and statutory requirements, and operational efficiency
lead daily tailings operations to ensure efficient and environmentally responsible handling, storage, and disposal of tailings materials
work with the EOR (engineer of records) to formulate comprehensive tailings handling plans, including the design and maintenance of tailings storage facilities to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
adhere to all tailings operations that comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment
continuously monitor key performance indicators for tailings handling, analyze data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
deliver detailed reports on tailings operations performance, including metrics on stability, safety incidents, and environmental impact, to senior leadership
guide, mentor, and refine the tailings handling team, providing training and professional growth opportunities to enhance their skills and performance
execute regular performance evaluations, deliver feedback, and establish goals to ensure continuous improvement and impactful team morale
responsible for identifying relevant risks, applying mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring risks
collaborate with contractors to adhere to compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations, while maintaining alignment with organizational goals
manage water balance in regard to the tailings storage facility
Requirements
Advanced English (spoken and written) and Spanish are a must

formal education qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Mining, Metallurgical or Civil Engineering, or related fields
knowledge gained through work practice with tailings storage facility design, safety audits, and risk assessments
KPI monitoring and report preparation

experience leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with other areas
strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
ability to work effectively in remote industrial or mining environments
