Job Description:

Directs the field construction activities and is responsible for coordinating the efforts of all direct-hire job personnel and subcontractors. Assigned projects are completed on time, under budget and at a profit. Safety, EEO and quality goals are achieved. Clients are satisfied with project results.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and supervise all activities including determining method of construction, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, and work schedule
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the construction operation
  • create daily job reports
  • Provide input to cost and schedule forecasts
  • verify work progress
  • Participate in the negotiation of claims and changes
  • Coordinate with different crafts, departments, or other contractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support project activities and project schedule
  • Liaise with owner’s representatives (engineering, estimating, and planning) to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
  • Assist in resolving field construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)
  • Monitor craft and subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements
  • perform weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks
  • document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Assist in performing incident and/or accident investigations and follow-up
  • Maintain staffing levels that contribute to EEO goals for minorities and females
  • Prepare for and attend job status meetings
  • Train project employees
  • Create improved methods to accomplish tasks
  • Perform project close-out and ensure punch list is completed in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in the construction industry
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents
  • Effective communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups of employees
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, leadership, and decision-making abilities
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
