Epic Opportunities is hiring a motivated, creative, and people-centered Summer Student to join us as a Community Resource Assistant. The Community Resource Assistant summer student position will bring Epic Opportunities' vision and values to life by sparking creative ways for people to build meaningful community connections and relationships. Working closely with the Community Resource and Mental Health Capacity Builder team, the Assistant will assist in the Bridging the Gap (mental health) and Talk it Up initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Champion the right to choose, full inclusion, and active community participation
Empower individuals to self-advocate in their everyday lives
Work collaboratively with team members and the people we serve, to help implement and evaluate initiatives that promote mental health and well-being for people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Help facilitate internal focus groups to gather valuable feedback from those we serve, with the goal of advancing their personal outcomes
Requirements:
Must be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person whom refugee protection that has been confirmed under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act at the duration of employment
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Area of studies which will be an asset
Human Rights, Human Services, or Community Development
Demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission, values and policies of Epic Opportunities
Ability to manage several projects at a time, be organized and carry out priorities in a fast-paced environment while working independently or in a team setting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Nice to have:
A current Manitoba Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle is an asset
