Job Responsibility
Carrying out all assigned routine/non-routine summer and winter highway maintenance operations and activities undertaken from designated patrol centers
Will be required to become a Night Patroller for the winter season
Perform road patrol duties during both daytime/light hours and night time hours to allow for proper inspection of lighting, pavement marking, and sign retro-reflectivity
Stop to document or address hazardous conditions, including installing signs, dispatching a work crew, contacting police or appropriate authorities (TOC, O.P.P., MECP Spills Action Centre), undertaking repair or removal of the hazard, or placing appropriate temporary warning signs or markers
Stop to document or address minor defects
Respond to incidents or public complaints, including assisting stranded motorists
Complete reports, diaries, and other necessary paperwork
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum DZ license in good standing
AZ license considered an asset
Experience in Provincial and or Municipal highway maintenance field
Maintain positive relationships with the public, regulatory agencies and peers representing the company in a professional manner
Book 7 certification required
familiarity with all contract highway areas an asset
Punctual and willing to work shift work
Physically able to meet all requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance and emergency assignments, working in a safe and environmentally friendly manner that also promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation
Nice to have
AZ license considered an asset
