Job Description:

The intern will begin by getting a base knowledge of the reinsurance world and understanding the life cycle of a policy from the day the policy is issued through the day the policy ends. In addition, throughout the program, they will aid with creating weekly/monthly metric reporting, data quality initiatives, and exposure to Microsoft Excel and SQL Queries. There will be a heavy focus on data analytics and reporting. Under limited supervision, collaborates with the Claims & OSC to provide technical expertise and perform moderately complex analysis for reinsurance and retro claims. Works independently, with claim management, and with various departments across the organization and US Operations, to identify and resolve complex reinsurance claim issues. Collaborates with key resources for procedural process improvements and documentation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Essential Function Analyzes moderately complex claim data for compliance with treaty terms and systemic reporting
  • Works with all departments in the USMM Operations division and other RGA departments to identify needs and analyze possible solutions using technical experience and established procedures.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of claims standards, procedures and Prepares reports that allow management to monitor claims production and quality results against stated This may include creating and running SQLs to assist in reporting.
  • Participates in internal claim-related audits and other audits (i.e. client claim audits) as needed.
  • Under supervision, monitors system data for accurate claim accruals.
  • Ability to meticulously oversee substantial amounts of data while being able to stay detail oriented.
  • Ability to work cross functionally to support the team by collaborating with both Claim Examiners and OSC Processors
  • Projects assigned with completion according to instructions

Requirements:

  • Current student pursuing degree in Data Analytics, General Business or related degree
  • Ability to summarize and develop reports from large data sets using both excel and SQL
  • Willingness and desire to learn and ask questions by participating in meetings and voicing new ideas.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Advanced Excel Skills preferred)
  • Effective analytical and critical thinking skills to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
