Job Description:

The Housing Technician serves as an integral component of the EKU Housing & Residence Life facilities maintenance operation. Working in a student residential facilities, the Housing Technician will uphold and follow EKU Housing & Residence Life department mission, vision, and values.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct work in residence halls
  • Assist with the development and implementation of special projects related to departmental maintenance
  • Be able to transport items via golf cart or rolling wagons

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled as a Full-time EKU student for the Summer or Fall 2026 semester(s)
  • Drivers License preferred, but not required
  • Prior experience in manual labor or maintenance
  • Can work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to work during Fall Move-in week
  • Must able to lift 50 pounds overhead

  • Facility Operations & Maintenance Management - Work Order Oversight: Monitor and manage the web-based work order system (WebTMA)
  • ensure timely completion, follow-up, and closing of student-generated requests. Facility Inspections: Conduct regular building walks throughout the semester and during summer term to track project progress, cleanliness, and structural safety. Technical Support: Assist with hands-on facility tasks including lock battery replacements and troubleshooting electronic door/fob access issues. Logistics & Inventory: Assist in departmental inventory management, coordinate Student Housing Technicians, and maintain the housing facilities calendar. Data Analysis: Assist leadership in analyzing work order data to identify recurring facility trends and needs. Other Duties as Assigned: Tasks not provided as part of this posting, but related to the scope of work of this position
  • Staff Supervision & Training - Student Staff Leadership: Assist in the recruitment, selection, and training of Student Housing Technicians. Administrative Oversight: Manage student staff schedules, verify/submit timesheets, and coordinate time-off requests. Safety & Onboarding: Facilitate training for new student staff regarding job tasks, utility cart training, and university safety procedures
  • Communication & Liaison Services - Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as a bridge between Residence Hall Coordinators (RHCs), Associate Directors (ADs), and the facilities maintenance team. Resident Notifications: Create and distribute uniform signage for facility outages items
  • update communication templates in StarRez for facilities and technology issues. Crisis Response: Respond to university emergencies and closures, including adverse weather, to ensure facilities remain protected and operational
