Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic Community Inclusion Assistant for the summer, who will work within our Day Program and will assist individuals living with developmental disabilities to participate in leisure, individual and group programs including our summer camp. In this position you are required to provide program participants with a variety of social, recreational and life skills based on the individual’s interests and goals using a person-centered approach. Working under the guidance of the program manager, you will assist individuals to live a good life, develop friendships, feel connected to community, develop a socially valued role, support individuals to independently set goals, develop skills and participate in leisure and social activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work within our Day Program
  • Assist individuals living with developmental disabilities to participate in leisure, individual and group programs including our summer camp
  • Provide program participants with a variety of social, recreational and life skills based on the individual’s interests and goals using a person-centered approach

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and between the ages of 18-30 to be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs
  • Strong commitment to supporting individuals in actively participating in their community
  • Able to support individuals in their daily living
  • Ability to help plan and carry out activities for individuals
  • Able to support both adults and children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate (asset)
