King’s College School, Cascais is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Pre-Engineering and STEAM Teaching Assistant + Monitor to support the delivery of hands-on engineering and STEAM activities during the Summer Camp programme. The role includes supporting the assembly of the Bufori EViE Kart, facilitating STEAM project work for students aged 9 and above, and providing supervision and wellbeing support across daily and evening activities. The programme runs over four weeks from 24 June - 25 July 2026, delivered as two two-week camp sessions, and includes both teaching support and residential-style monitoring duties.
Job Responsibility:
Support the delivery of engaging pre-engineering and STEAM lessons and hands-on activities
Assist with the assembly of the Bufori EViE Kart and delivery of STEAM project kits
Help develop and adapt lesson content to meet different student needs and ability levels
Work with the programme coordinator to support planning of two-week camp schedules and learning outcomes
Support differentiation of activities to cater for varying skill and experience levels
Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment encouraging collaboration and critical thinking
Support assessment of student progress and provide feedback to support improvement
Supervise students (typically 10–15 students aged 9–17) and ensure they are never left unattended
Support evening activities, excursions and airport transfers in line with camp schedules
Participate in duty rotations, including supervision at breaks, meals, pool sessions and night monitoring when required
Maintain responsibility for materials used in activities and help keep all areas clean and organised
Support first aid and wellbeing needs and report any injuries, accidents or illnesses promptly
Attend all training days, safeguarding sessions and staff meetings
Follow school policies, staff handbook guidelines, health and safety and safeguarding procedures at all times
Requirements:
A degree in engineering, computer science or new technologies
Strong background in engineering and STEAM
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Previous experience in curriculum delivery (advantageous)
Must be 19 years of age or older
Advanced or Proficient English level (C1–C2 required)
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks
Creativity and ability to encourage innovation
Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated
Strong time management and ability to meet commitments
Positive, adaptable attitude and ability to cope with new and complex situations
