United Synagogue is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support the kitchen team in delivering smooth, efficient and hygienic meal service throughout camp. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, organised and safe catering environment.
Job Responsibility:
Support basic food preparation and assist during busy meal services
Receive, store and rotate food supplies
label and store leftovers safely
Set up and clear the kitchen before/after service, keeping surfaces and equipment clean and organised
Maintain high levels of cleanliness and follow all food hygiene and health & safety procedures
Ensure equipment and utensils are cleaned, stored correctly and returned in good condition
Communicate with the kitchen team and escalate shortages, spillages or breakages promptly
Support waste‑management practices, including proper segregation and minimising food waste
Requirements:
Experience in kitchens, catering, hospitality, school or care settings (or similar)
Experience with cleaning, pot wash, hygiene routines and working efficiently during peak times
Food Hygiene certification
Good attention to detail
ability to follow instructions and routines
Reliable, punctual, able to work safely, at pace, and as part of a team
