The Valentine Parker Jr Youth Prevention Center and the Four Hills of Life Wellness Center are looking for highly motivated, self-directed individuals to join our summer camp program as summer camp interns. These candidates will help design, deliver, and supervise summer camp programs and activities. The days are filled with teaching, coordinating, carrying out, and supervising activities and guiding youth campers in personal growth. The candidates will manage groups of campers, maintain daily records of campers and programs, and assist with supervising activities during program hours, including days, nights, and weekends. We highly encourage college students who have a program of study focused in areas related to education, physical education, exercise science, sports medicine, kinesiology, strength and conditioning, coaching, recreation, or related fields to consider joining us for our summer program.
Job Responsibility:
Be a role model to our youth
Collaborate with the team to create activities for desired outcomes such as healthy, active lifestyles, positive social interactions, healthy relationships, and improved self-confidence
Develop, organize, facilitate, and supervise daily activities that may include recreational activities, physical fitness activities, games, arts and crafts, rhythm and dance, culture, strength and conditioning, speed and agility, sport specific skill development, nutrition and healthy eating, or other related areas of interest
Encourage members to be engaged in activities and form healthy relationships by greeting and introducing youth, being an active participant with the youth during daily activities, encouraging group interactions, and providing oversight for fair and equal treatment
Fairly and consistently enforce rules, model positive behaviors, and serve as a friend and mentor
Responsible for the safety and security of the youth in the facilities
Assist in overseeing the daily operations of all recreation areas, inside and outside, including maintaining safe equipment, cleaning facilities, displaying appropriate signage
Administer first aid or refer injured youth to physicians, as needed
Complete necessary paperwork, incident reports, and activity assessments, as needed
Participate in regular feedback sessions with the team on daily interactions as well as identifying areas for improvement and growth
Assist with the maintenance, upkeep, and storage of program equipment and supplies
Perform daily housekeeping duties, ensuring clean and sanitary facilities
Maintain regular and punctual working hours
Perform daily assignments with limited access and usage of one's personal cell phone
Other duties or projects as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Actively Enrolled College Students
Successful Previous Experience Working At the Prevention and/or Wellness Center
Able To Work, Play, and Interact With Youth (K-12th Grade) In Gym, Activity, and Pool Settings
Nice to have:
Valid driver's license and eligible for tribal insurance
