United Synagogue is seeking a Head Chef to lead the catering operation for our Summer Camp. You will manage the kitchen team, plan nutritious menus, maintain excellent food hygiene standards, and ensure meals are delivered safely, on time and in line with dietary requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and supervise catering staff, ensuring smooth meal preparation, cooking and service
Plan varied, child‑friendly menus and ensure sufficient food options at every meal
Manage stock levels, ordering and storage, including safe use of leftovers
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and allergen management
Liaise with the Head of Site to ensure meals align with the daily schedule
Oversee kitchen set‑up, clean‑down and safe return of equipment/utensils
Keep accurate records and ensure full compliance with United Synagogue procedures
Requirements:
Food Hygiene certification
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage pressure, prioritise tasks and solve problems
A team player who uses initiative and maintains high standards
Nice to have:
Driver’s Licence
First Aid qualification
