Job Description:

King’s College, The British School of Madrid (Soto de Viñuelas) is seeking committed and enthusiastic English Teachers (Non-Residential) to deliver high-quality English learning and student supervision during the Summer Camp programme running from 25 June to 25 July 2026. Reporting to the Academic Coordinator, and when required to the Course Camps Director, the post-holder will teach and support students aged 6–16, ensuring both academic progress and strong pastoral care within a safe, structured camp environment. This is a daytime teaching role requiring strong classroom practice, safeguarding awareness and flexibility to support wider camp routines and excursions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teach and manage groups of 10–15 students aged 6–16, ensuring students are never left unattended
  • Plan and deliver English classes and academic workshops appropriate to age and ability levels
  • Prepare daily lesson plans with clear aims and learning objectives
  • Provide academic and emotional support to students, including making time to listen to concerns when needed
  • Complete individual English reports for students at the end of their stay
  • Support daily routines including breaks, mealtimes and pool supervision on a rota basis
  • Chaperone students on organised excursions, following all safety procedures
  • Maintain contact with parents when required by coordinators or directors
  • Attend all training days, safeguarding sessions and staff meetings
  • Follow school policies, uniform standards, hygiene expectations and health & safety procedures
  • Support unpacking and packing of course materials at the start and end of the programme
  • Cover classes when requested and participate in lesson observations by the Academic Coordinator
  • Undertake additional reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the Summer Camp

Requirements:

  • English language level C1–C2
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children or in summer camps
  • At least 3 years’ teaching experience
  • Ability to supervise groups of 10–15 children aged 6–16
  • Experience planning and delivering English or academic workshops
  • Experience supporting students academically and emotionally
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and respond appropriately to incidents
  • Ability to chaperone excursions and supervise students off-site
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic First Aid knowledge (preferable)
  • Degree or currently studying in Education, English, Linguistics or a related field
