King’s College, The British School of Madrid (Soto de Viñuelas) is seeking responsible and energetic Day Monitors (Non-Residential Monitors) to support student wellbeing, supervision and activity delivery during the Summer Camp programme running from 25 June to 25 July 2026. Reporting to the Activities and Academic Coordinator, and when required to the Deputy or Course Director, the post-holder will supervise students during daily academic and activity programmes, ensuring a safe, structured and enjoyable camp experience. This is a non-residential role focused on daytime supervision, activity leadership and classroom support, requiring strong teamwork, flexibility and a commitment to safeguarding.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise groups of 10–15 students aged 6–16, ensuring students are never left unattended
Plan and lead sports, games and recreational activities using age-appropriate materials
Support teachers in class and assist with classroom management when required
Chaperone students on off-site excursions, following all safety instructions and protocols
Support daily routines including breaks, lunchtime, pool supervision with lifeguards and bus routes on a rota basis
Provide pastoral care and respond appropriately if students are unwell or injured, including basic first aid support when needed
Inform senior staff and medical staff of any injuries, accidents or illnesses immediately
Support welcome logistics and greeting of incoming students and parents on Sundays when required
Attend all training days, safeguarding sessions and staff meetings
Follow school policies, staff handbook guidelines, uniform requirements and health & safety regulations
Be flexible and available to support the wider camp team when needed
Requirements:
English language level C1–C2
Minimum 1 year of experience working with children or in summer camps
Ability to supervise groups of 10–15 children aged 6–16
Experience planning and leading sports, games or recreational activities
Ability to develop sports sessions across different sports and age groups
Experience supporting teachers and assisting with classroom management
Ability to follow safety protocols and respond appropriately to incidents
Ability to chaperone excursions and supervise students off-site
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work flexibly within the camp timetable
Basic First Aid knowledge (preferable)
High school diploma required
Monitor/a de Actividades de Tiempo Libre qualification
Students pursuing or holding a degree in Physical Education are also suitable for this role
