The International School of Milan (ISM) is seeking a dynamic, responsible and enthusiastic Day Monitor to support student wellbeing, supervision and engagement during the ISM Summer Camp programme, running from Thursday 25 June to Saturday 25 July 2026. Based on site at ISM in Baranzate, and reporting directly to the Summer Camp Deputies, the Day Monitor plays a key role in ensuring students’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing during daytime activities, supporting teaching staff and contributing to the smooth daily operation of the camp. The role requires flexibility, strong teamwork and a commitment to safeguarding within a fast-paced camp environment. Working hours are organised on a rotation basis with a flexible timetable, and may be scheduled between 07:30 and 23:00, according to the camp programme and operational needs. All staff are expected to be available for arrival and departure days and to support the wider team when required.
Job Responsibility:
Provide excellent pastoral care for boarding and day students, including wellbeing, behaviour and safeguarding
Ensure students follow all school and camp procedures, including sign-in/out and daily routines
Ensure students are never left unattended, including during off-site excursions
Collaborate closely with the Camp Director and Deputies, reporting any concerns immediately
Supervise students on excursions, following all safety instructions and procedures
Support non-residential teaching staff during day camp courses when required
Be responsible for materials used during organised activities
Ensure all student areas are kept clean, tidy and well organised
Support evening activities and occasional boarding late duties as part of the rota
Be on call in the event of incidents, fire, intruders or other emergencies
Support first aid and health-related matters in coordination with the Camp Director, Deputies and camp nurse
Support arrival and departure days, welcoming families and assisting with airport transfers when required
Attend all mandatory training days, online planning meetings and staff meetings
Comply with all ISM policies, safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations
Maintain confidentiality of all student, family and staff information
Requirements:
English language proficiency at Advanced or Proficiency level (C1–C2)
Experience working with children or teenagers in educational, recreational or camp settings
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism when working with minors
Ability to follow safety protocols and respond appropriately to incidents
Flexibility to work irregular hours and adapt to changing priorities
High standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Valid permission to work within Italy/EU
Ability to provide a valid police background check (criminal record certificate) prior to the start of camp
