Job Responsibility:

  • Perform administrative and technical coordination of projects and field crews to ensure successful project completion, on time and within allocated budget
  • Assist with SUE equipment, software and vehicle acquisition
  • Assist with staffing needs
  • Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to identify and establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients to secure repeat business
  • Consult and coordinate with clients and contractors, as well as other internal departments such as engineering and planning, to meet project requirements
  • Meet with prospective clients, prepare proposals, and establish budgets and schedules
  • Maintain close liaison with clients to resolve all project questions
  • Oversee all SUE activities, including review of all project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget
  • Provide day-to-day assistance to SUE crews in the field and/or SUE CAD technicians
  • Define the scope of multiple, complex projects and develop plan to accomplish SUE projects
  • Compile project status reports, calculations and maintain records essential to SUE operations
  • Ensure assigned projects stay within budget allocation, review job cost sheets/prepare monthly billings and collect outstanding monies due from assigned clients
  • Participate in and formulate marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings
  • Serve as primary project point of contact to coordinate SUE services between SUE Party Chief and the client
  • Procure and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed by SUE crews and ensure that SUE trucks are properly maintained
  • Assist with SUE quality control and assurance

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) certification preferred
  • Seven or more (7+) years of SUE experience including experience at the SUE party chief level, or related experience
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of SUE management software
  • Thorough knowledge of SUE designation, collection and reporting practices while adhering to ASCE-38-02 standards for all quality levels (A, B, C and D)
  • Thorough knowledge of field procedures for performing vacuum excavation (test holes), exploratory excavations, ground penetrating radar, concrete imaging and mapping and pipe thickness testing
  • Experience with Temporary Traffic Control
  • MOT certified preferred, but not required

Nice to have:

  • Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) certification preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
