Substation Electrical Engineer

• Create and modify one-lines, cable schedules, BOMs, layouts, relay panel arrangements, schematics, and cable lists for high-voltage substations
• Prepare engineering and construction estimate documents for new installations or modifications to existing substations, including BOMs, RTU lists, and electrical details
• Develop and revise technical specifications for major substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and control houses
• Coordinate with other engineers to integrate protection, control, and monitoring systems
• Provide engineering and construction support throughout project phases
• Apply field mark-ups to as-built drawings and perform basic calculations (e.g., voltage drop, CT burden/saturation, lighting, short circuit) with minimal supervision
• Travel up to 25% may be required
• Perform other duties as assigned, including temporary coverage of other roles as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
• Minimum 2 years of experience, or 1 year with a master’s degree
• Passed FE exam or actively working toward it
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI) preferred
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
• Valid driver’s license for multi-state travel

Working knowledge of Excel and AutoCAD is a plus
