Job Description

Amentum is looking for a Submarine Fire Control Technician in Norfolk, VA, with experience with: AN/BYG-1 (including IA suite), CCS MK1 legacy, AN/BSY-1 legacy, and CV-2953C(P) CSDC.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform onboard FTA to perform checkout, fault isolation, and repair of equipment/system deficiencies of submarine combat control systems
  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to ship’s force during maintenance efforts
  • Provide direct FTA support by responding to fleet requests for troubleshooting guidance or assistance, and part availability or identification
  • Provide, review, and create TAVR messages upon completion of FTA visits and ensure JCN information for entry into FTS database with the status of problem, findings, and actions taken to the Waterfront Coordinator
  • Weekly waterfront operation meeting inputs for MARMC Code 271 submarine action items
  • Updates to FTS and TAR for all work accomplished by MARMC Code 271
  • Provide for OEM support when required
  • Direct FTA to support SWFTS suite when required
  • Review incoming CASREP and Tech Assist message traffic for applicable code 271 messages
  • Provide updates for the FTS database with respect to CASREP and FTA status for code 271
  • Calibrate all government combat test equipment used for FTA that is not able to be calibrated by Navy METCAL
  • Perform onboard FTA during TYCOM-scheduled Information Assurance (IA) posture transition events
  • Support scheduled submarine NIWC/SIIMO AN/BYG-1Alteration Installation Team (AIT) efforts, as directed by MARMC Code 271

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of full‑time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of SWFTS and/or weapons handling equipment
  • Eight (8) years of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, or repair of electronics systems and equipment
  • Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance
  • US Citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance

  • Generate PCCNs/ Design Change Notices (DCNs) as necessary following investigations
  • Ensure PCCNs/DCNs are properly incorporated into published APLs
  • Upload drawings & technical data to a shared repository to support APL development and knowledge sharing with Navy Supply (NAVSUP) personnel
  • Review/ upload Lowest Replaceable Unit (LRU) reports provided by integrators for accuracy against PCCN deliveries and expected changes
  • Assist the Supply Support Lead in the management of the master provisioning tracker for all PCCN development
  • Participate in and provide detailed status updates in Supply/ Provisioning meetings as required
  • Positively interface with Source Providers to ensure source is being provided on time in accordance with the master provisioning tracker and/or expected fleet requirements
