Job Description

The Sub-Fabrication Manager is responsible for determining the proper fabrication company to sub work to in order to meet deadlines and schedules.

Job Responsibility

  • Review designated items determined to require sub-fabrication
  • Review fabrication drawings and organize packages for sub fabricators to provide a price and confirm they are able to meet the designated schedule
  • Contact sub fabricators with known capabilities to perform scope of work
  • Sign up sub fabricators and provide all new sub fabrication packages required to be added to the Prospect system
  • Obtain pricing and confirmation of schedules from each sub solicited for the specified scope of work and award accordingly
  • Release scope of work through the Production Control Department to trigger issuance of fabrication drawings and associated files
  • Review pricing points and best options for required work
  • Communicate with fabricators and answer questions on fabrication status from Detailing and Project Managers
  • Answer emails from project management that requires immediate attention to prevent or mitigate any erection delays in the field
  • Adheres to all company policies and OSHA regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related is required and/or 6 years of fabrication management experience
  • Must be familiar with AISC and OSHA requirements
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required

  • Reports status of materials, fabrication and any variation in scheduled activities
  • Assists in activities required to close out sub-fabricator contracts on a project
