Job Description:

Are you a passionate Study Skills Mentor dedicated to helping students unlock their academic potential? Randstad Student Support is seeking experienced one-on-one Study Skills Support Workers to assist university students in Aberdeen who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). This is a chance to make a tangible difference in a student's educational journey. The role is a hybrid model, offering flexibility with both in-person and online sessions, and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

Job Responsibility:

  • Developing individual learning plans to promote independence
  • Building on student strengths and effective learning strategies
  • Enhancing organization and time management skills
  • Creating structured action plans to help students stay on track
  • Improving research and comprehension abilities
  • Managing a caseload of students effectively and professionally

Requirements:

  • Prior teaching or tutoring experience
  • In-depth knowledge of specific learning difficulties
  • Experience working with individuals who have specific learning difficulties
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to identify and build on a student's learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional relationship
  • A high degree of punctuality and reliability
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., PATOSS, BDA, ADSHE, Dyslexia Guild)

Nice to have:

Experience with students on the autism spectrum
