Job Description:

Support and encourage students in higher education as a one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker. This hybrid role involves creating individual learning plans tailored to autistic students' needs to foster independent learning and success.

Job Responsibility:

Support students to develop independence
build on strengths and learning strategies
create strategies around organisation and time management
create action plans to stay on track with studies
build on research skills
distinguish appropriate sources and how to use references
build on comprehension skills within reading and writing

Requirements:

Qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum)
have a teaching qualification
have taken extensive training in adult autism
extensive training may include 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non medical helper package) OR The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies

Nice to have:

Experience of working with autistic clients
excellent interpersonal and communication skills
ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
punctuality and reliability
good organisational skills
ability to manage a caseload of students
