Job Description:

We are looking for a Specialist Study Skills Tutor (ASC), where you'll play a vital role in equipping students with Autism Spectrum Condition with the tools and strategies they need to thrive academically, navigate university life with confidence, and reach their full potential.

Job Responsibility:

Provide learning support and academic guidance
Create an individual learning plan tailored to the student's needs
Support students to develop independence
Build on strengths and learning strategies
Create strategies around organisation and time management
Create action plans to stay on track with studies
Build on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing

Requirements:

Undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum)
Teaching qualification
Extensive training in adult autism
Experience of working with autistic clients
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths
Punctuality and reliability
Good organisational skills
Ability to manage a caseload of students

Nice to have:

6 National Autistic Society Modules (non medical helper package)
The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies
