Job Description:

Tutor to help shape the learning journey of students, and support them in developing their employability skills while also preparing them for their next steps. Responsible for delivering an engaging curriculum to a cohort of learners, supporting them from initial interview and assessment through to successful completion of qualifications. Delivery will align with standards set out in the Education Inspection Framework.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver diverse and innovative teaching, learning and assessment opportunities
  • Ensure learning, teaching and assessment programmes take account of latest developments in subjects taught
  • Provide pastoral and tutorial support
  • Deliver Level 1 Occupational Studies qualifications
  • Support English and maths (up to GCSE level)
  • Embed practical skills and personal development into teaching
  • Deliver engaging curriculum to a cohort of learners
  • Support learners from initial interview and assessment through to successful completion of their qualifications

Requirements:

  • PGCE/Certificate in Education or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
  • Relevant vocational qualification
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Teaching and assessing qualifications
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Strong sense of purpose and passion for teaching and training
  • Ability to use initiative and work to set deadlines
  • Ability to plan and deliver diverse and innovative teaching, learning and assessment opportunities

  • Liaising with students, staff and placement supervisors to arrange assessment visits
  • Arranging meetings both in college and placement to discuss placement issues
  • Communicating effectively with placements, parents and the wider team to ensure students are supported to achieve
  • Work closely with Industry to source high quality work placements to satisfy the Curriculum plan student numbers and ensure all placements have health and safety risk assessments and public liability insurance and are aware of the college requirements re. supervision and Health and Safety
  • Liaising with students, staff and placement supervisors to outline awarding organisation requirements for placements and arrange observational visits arranging meetings both in college and placement to discuss placement with individual students
  • Carrying out assessments on students in placement as a requirement of the awarding organisation and completing required documentation for External Quality Assurance
  • The role will also include some face to face delivery in class with students developing skills and knowledge needed in the sector
  • Work alongside Curriculum Managers, Personal Development Tutors and students to appropriately match career pathways / student timetabling and geographic area with placement opportunities
