Studio researchers gather relevant information regarding the guests and contributors for the programme and deliver precise and accurate briefs to the producer. They generate ideas for innovative live content and are involved in the editorial briefing of guests prior to the live show going on air, as well as being across the sourcing and clearing of stills, archive clips and music.
Job Responsibility
Working effectively to ensure all content is thoroughly researched, meets the BBC's editorial standards and is fact checked using a variety of sources
Researching content for the live show, including generating ideas for studio, OB and topical VTs
Conducting research with high profile guests
Communicating effectively with contributors and the production team to ensure that all are kept fully informed of developments and requirements at every stage of production
To demonstrate judgement on appropriate referral to more experienced members of the production team where necessary
Sourcing and clearing material for broadcast and publishing
Organising and prioritising tasks both in terms of finding stories and dealing with research materials
Requirements
Experience of working on live studio shows, preferably daily e.g It Takes Two, This Morning
The ability to work in a fast moving environment, topical working environment
An understanding of archive/various copyright material rights
Strong editorial understanding with creative ideas
Experience in briefing high profile talent and contributors
A passion for factual and Entertainment studio programmes and an in depth understanding of The One Show's diverse audiences and editorial brief
An understanding and interest in popular culture and news
Experience of preparing contributor biogs and briefs, including the ability to draw out new anecdotes and exclusive content
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
Planning, organising and time management skills
The ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines and changing priorities
The ability to maintain a creative, problem-solving approach in fast changing and challenging situations
Knowledge of editorial guidelines and awareness of BBC and statutory policies and regulations relevant to programme-making, familiarity with the BBC employment practices and policies such as diversity, equal opportunities, and health and safety guidelines
