The Sustainability Intern will report directly to the General Manager. This position with assist the Rock Dining team with implementation of sustainability initiatives and report back to the General Manager on the progress and growth of the Rock Dining sustainability plan.
Job Responsibility:
Plan, schedule, and execute Aramark’s sustainability initiatives, programs, and events
Waste Audit (2 semester)
Coordinate Farmer Market Events on campus
Assist in implementation of Aramark sustainability events (Earth Month, etc.)
Research sustainability ideas from other universities/industries for possible implementation
Responsible for managing all sustainability event tables including scheduling as-needed interns, ensuring engagement, and taking photos for social media
Collaborate and partner with Slippery Rock University’s Sustainability Coordinator and any sustainability groups and departments that may be on campus to enhance partnership
Responsible for maintaining knowledge on SRU’s sustainability initiatives and ensuring we are doing our part to stay current to ensure we grow with the University in this area
Co-ordinate Social Media updates on sustainability program with Marketing Coordinator
Requirements:
Must be a student at Slippery Rock University pursuing a degree in a Sustainability or Environmental Sciences related field
Professional interest and enthusiasm in environmental education, community engagement, leadership, and sustainability
Big picture thinking with holistic ideas for student engagement and the over sustainability initiative
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
