Job Description

Oxford International Junior Programmes offers a range of summertime ESL programmes at carefully chosen centres in the UK, Canada, and the US. Our programmes aim to create a study experience of educational value, of cultural interest, and, of course, full of fun and memories to take home. Our Toronto summer program is based out of Toronto Metropolitan University*, where students receive a combination of 15 hours English language lessons per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. The activity programme will include daytime and evening activities as well as half-day and full-day excursions to attractions and places of cultural interest. We are currently looking for staff for contracts of various length from end-of-June to early August 2026 (programme dates are June 28 – August 9, 2026). A limited number of residential positions are available. The Student Support Manager will be responsible for taking the lead in ensuring a high quality residential operation as well as the welfare of students at our TMU programme both on-site and on excursions. This is a residential position, so room and board at TMU is included as part of the salary for this role.

Job Responsibility

  • Attending regular meetings with Group Leaders to address any issues or concerns related to room keys and/or student behaviour in the residence
  • Collating and then, alongside the senior team, acting upon any feedback received efficiently
  • Maintaining proper levels of student discipline, safety and welfare throughout, responding quickly to emergencies where necessary
  • Maintaining a great presence throughout, ensuring you are visible to students and easily contactable by clients
  • Supporting student check-in/check-out procedures
  • Taking responsibility for on-site safeguarding, recording all issues, reporting these directly to the Centre Manager
  • Working with the Centre Manager to update risk assessments
  • Ensuring health and safety is adhered to, recording any incidents that may occur
  • Working with the senior team to be aware of where each student is accommodated
  • Ensuring any student absences from class are checked and followed up
  • Carry out basic first aid when required
  • Liaising with local medical services if/when necessary
  • Keeping all Welfare logs updated, providing necessary documentation to Head Office by set deadlines

Requirements

  • Valid First Aid Certification
  • Experience working with children and/or teenagers, ideally in a residential camp setting or similar
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • A skill set that enables success in a fast-paced work environment
  • A positive and flexible approach to work, along with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • A desire to work with students aged between 9-17
  • The ability to demonstrate respect for equal opportunities and respect for race and diversity
  • Strong work ethic
