Job Description:

At Olsson, we help our clients proactively comply with complicated regulatory processes and provide our clients with the latest and best methods for completing environmental surveys, collecting and analyzing data, and summarizing results. As a summer 2026 student intern with our Environmental Sciences team, you will perform meaningful, hands-on, real-world work that will transform your classroom experience and help you envision your future career.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform a variety of scientific tasks
  • Perform field investigations
  • Write reports
  • Work with other environmental professionals
  • Travel to job sites in remote locations for observation activities and fieldwork
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain types
  • Drive a pickup truck on minimum maintenance roads
  • Some overnight travel could be required

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental studies, or a similar field of study
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Interest in being outdoors
  • Ability to perform research and write technical reports
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Ability to drive a pickup truck
  • Valid driver's license with good driving history

Nice to have:

  • Bird and plant identification experience is a plus
  • Prior knowledge of avian species (by sight or sound) and/or the ability to identify native plants is a plus
