Are you passionate about improving student experience, engagement and success? Do you have the vision and leadership skills to shape institution-wide approaches to retention and student support? We are looking for a proactive and collaborative Student Engagement Manager to join our Student Success Team. This is an exceptional opportunity to have an impact on outcomes for Birkbeck’s diverse student body.

Job Responsibility:

  • Implement the College-wide Student Engagement and Retention Strategy
  • Lead a team of Student Engagement Officers, overseeing their coordination, performance and professional development
  • Act as a subject matter expert on student attendance and engagement
  • Work in partnership with colleagues across Registry, IT, academic schools and central services
  • Analyse data, influence strategic decision-making and drive improvements to support the continuation, completion and success of the diverse student body

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the needs of a diverse student body and current issues in the higher education sector
  • Knowledge of student attendance requirements and engagement policies
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise across multiple areas and lead a busy service
  • Experience using student record data and engagement management systems
  • Strong people manager, able to build a team and skilled at building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Confident communicator through a variety of media
