Student Assistant - Resident Life - Wing Mate-Peer Mentor

• Serve as a visible, approachable, and supportive presence within the assigned RLC
• Build meaningful relationships with residents and foster an open community
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to execute intentional interactions and peer mentorship
• Refer residents to appropriate academic, wellness, and student support services
• Encourage academic engagement and co-curricular involvement
• Support conflict resolution, time management, teamwork, and cultural competency efforts in a peer-to-peer format
• Support the facilitation of monthly RLC-focused learning events
• Attend community-based initiatives that align with RLC learning outcomes
• Promote academic college or program events and services, including curricular-based student organizations
• Represent the Kennedy Residential College and LLCs at campus-wide recruitment events (e.g., Eagle Preview, SOAR, Open Houses)
• Attend bi-weekly staff meetings and supervision sessions with the Coordinator and/or Teaching Assistants (TA1s)
• Serve office hours each week for residents to openly engage and meet
• Maintain consistent and professional communication with RLC, TA1s, and other stakeholders
• Submit weekly reports and updates documenting resident interactions and event outcomes
• Utilize platforms such as Constant Contact, StarRez, and Eagle Engage to complete assignments and outreach
• Attend fall, spring, and ongoing training as scheduled by University Housing
• Wing Mates will be required to move in early for the start of the academic semester to participate in formal training efforts
• Participate in leadership development workshops and seminars
• Engage in regular reflection and goal-setting with supervisors

Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Stipend, awarded in the form of 50% of full housing costs and 7 meals per week plan
