The Student Assistant will support the Chick-Fil-A location as a BOH Student Kitchen Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. The BOH Student Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the Production Chefs in the back of house kitchen, assisting with the preparation of food, including slicing fruits and vegetables, and performing general kitchen duties. This position provides a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment while learning food preparation skills. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Job Responsibility:
Assist Production Chefs with preparing food items, including slicing fruits and vegetables
Follow all food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures
May assist with meat preparation, cleaning, and equipment disassembly
Organize, prep, and store ingredients for use in cooking and plating
Wash dishes, clean counters, sanitize equipment, and maintain kitchen cleanliness
Assist in the proper storage and handling of food and kitchen tools
Follow instructions for food preparation and presentation
Help restock kitchen supplies and maintain inventory organization
Report any kitchen equipment issues to supervisors
Requirements:
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University
Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
Legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the University
Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate or three or more graduate level credit hours at Georgia Southern University
Nice to have:
Previous experience in food service or a kitchen environment
