Job Description

Citi is looking for a Securitization Credit Underwriter at the Assistant Vice President level to join the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) Credit Underwriting team. In this role, you will support the underwriting of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of asset securitization transactions financed primarily through the asset-backed commercial paper market, working across auto, credit card, and unsecured consumer loan asset types. You will play a meaningful role in the full credit lifecycle, from initial deal screening through to post-closing portfolio management, partnering closely with senior Underwriters and the Origination team to assess risk and deliver sound credit decisions.

Job Responsibility

  • Partner with the Origination team to pre-screen new deal opportunities, conduct initial collateral analysis, and prepare preliminary financial assessments to support deal approval decisions
  • Participate in due diligence sessions, documenting client and industry performance, financial trends, and collateral characteristics to inform credit recommendations
  • Draft credit approval memoranda for senior Underwriter review and manage submission through internal approval workflows and risk governance processes
  • Assess servicer reports for collateral eligibility, covenant compliance, and Borrowing Base coverage, identifying and escalating signs of deteriorating asset performance
  • Validate Borrowing Base models for new transactions and subsequent amendments, ensuring accuracy and consistency across internal systems and databases
  • Propose internal risk ratings, maintain scorecard updates, and monitor facility limits to ensure ongoing compliance with credit and institutional guidelines
  • Prepare and present Quarterly Portfolio Reviews to business management and Risk stakeholders, synthesizing portfolio trends and key credit findings
  • Coordinate with senior Underwriters and Audit management on audit scope, review timelines, and the resolution of exceptions identified through servicer audits

Requirements

  • Credit experience within a financial institution, rating agency, financial guarantor, or asset management firm, with direct exposure to structured finance or securitization
  • Ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment, manage competing priorities, and proactively escalate credit or operational risks as needed
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to build, validate, and interpret financial models and structured data outputs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey credit analysis and risk findings to stakeholders at all levels
  • High attention to detail combined with a strong sense of ownership, enabling accurate and timely delivery across multiple workstreams
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or Operations Research

Nice to have

  • Five to eight years of direct experience in Consumer ABS or securitization, with familiarity across asset types such as auto loans, credit cards, or unsecured consumer receivables
  • Prior involvement in credit risk management within the financial services industry, including experience applying risk frameworks to structured lending or capital markets transactions
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex financial data, prioritize effectively under time pressure, and deliver results in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment

What we offer

  • Hybrid working arrangement with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely
  • Direct exposure to a multi-billion-dollar securitization portfolio
  • Access to structured learning and development programmes
  • Competitive compensation and financial wellbeing benefits
  • Wellbeing and work-life balance support
  • medical, dental & vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • life, accident, and disability insurance
  • wellness programs
  • paid time off packages, including planned time off (vacation), unplanned time off (sick leave), and paid holidays
