Job Description

Our client, a growing structural engineering consultancy, is seeking a Structural Surveyor / Structural Engineer to support continued regional expansion across Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. This role offers a balanced mix of site-based inspections and home-based report writing, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety while maintaining structure in their working week. You will typically spend three days carrying out residential site visits and two days working remotely to prepare reports and calculations. One day per month will be spent at head office to collaborate with the wider team.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out structural inspections and wall removal surveys at residential properties
  • Take detailed site notes, photographs, and measurements during visits
  • Prepare structural reports and calculations based on site findings
  • Provide professional and approachable communication with clients
  • Work closely with the Director on report preparation and project approvals
  • Liaise with internal support teams where required
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure high-quality outputs
  • Represent the business professionally during site visits

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying or equivalent
  • Experience carrying out residential surveys or building inspections
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently from home
  • Confident communicating with clients and explaining technical matters
  • Attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with oversight from senior engineers
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
