As a Structural Foreman at Kiwi Newton Construction LLC, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading our field erection operations with a hands-on, working-leadership approach. Based on active construction sites, you’ll guide daily steel and precast installation activities, motivate your crew, and actively participate in the work — setting the tone for safety, quality, and productivity. Job Responsibility:
Lead, motivate, and coordinate erection crews (3–10 workers) to meet or exceed project schedules and deadlines
Actively work alongside your team installing structural steel framing (columns, beams, joists, decking) and precast concrete components (panels, stairs, beams, wall systems)
Oversee bolt-up and connection work, including torquing and tensioning procedures
Perform and supervise field welding (SMAW, FCAW, etc.)
Read and interpret structural drawings, erection plans, shop drawings, and connection details
Ensure proper layout and alignment of steel using levels, lasers, and total stations
Coordinate rigging and direct crane operations, including critical picks and tandem lifts
Review lift plans and understand load charts for mobile, tower, and rough-terrain cranes
Conduct daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) and enforce fall protection and steel erection safety standards
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, including Subpart R steel erection standards
Monitor structural tolerances, plumbness, alignment, shimming, and grouting procedures
Coordinate with general contractors, engineers, concrete crews, and fabricators
Manage material deliveries, erection sequencing, and site logistics
Address and resolve field challenges such as misaligned embeds, incorrect anchor bolt placement, damaged precast components, and weather delays
Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, JHAs, incident reports, and productivity tracking
Train apprentices and new hires while fostering teamwork and accountability
Promote a culture of safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
5–10+ years of hands-on experience in structural steel erection and precast concrete installation
Experience as an ironworker installing structural framing systems
Strong knowledge of rigging, crane safety, signaling, and lift planning (NCCCO signalperson preferred)
Proficiency in bolt-up, torquing, welding, cutting, and layout procedures
Ability to read and interpret structural and shop drawings
Knowledge of anchor bolt layouts, embed plates, bearing surfaces, and alignment standards
Experience operating aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and working at heights with fall protection systems
OSHA 30-hour certification (preferred or required depending on jurisdiction)
Experience leading crews and managing productivity in fast-paced site environments
Strong leadership, communication, and scheduling skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities in field conditions
Physical stamina to work at heights and in varied weather conditions
