Job Description:

A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Structural Fire Engineering Lead to drive and expand their Structural Fire Engineering Lead capability within the UK. This opportunity for a Structural Fire Engineering Lead sits within a highly respected fire engineering team working on complex and architecturally ambitious developments across the built environment. Working alongside multidisciplinary design teams, the Structural Fire Engineering Lead will play a critical role in delivering innovative structural fire strategies that support life safety, structural resilience and design ambitions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading the delivery of complex structural fire engineering projects across major developments
  • Working closely with structural engineers, architects and design teams to ensure life safety and optimise structural fire protection
  • Undertaking and supervising fire and heat transfer analysis followed by structural modelling at elevated temperatures
  • Using and reviewing structural fire engineering FEM software such as SAFIR, VULCAN or similar tools
  • Producing and reviewing performance-based structural fire engineering reports
  • Representing the consultancy at design meetings both internally and externally
  • Supporting business development activities and building strong client relationships
  • Mentoring engineers and strengthening the technical capability of the structural fire engineering team

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Structural Engineering or Structural Fire Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
  • Proven experience leading structural fire engineering teams within an engineering consultancy environment
  • Experience managing structural fire engineering projects and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Strong knowledge of assessing structures at ambient and elevated temperatures
  • Experience undertaking and supervising fire and heat transfer analysis and structural modelling
  • Excellent communication, consultancy and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confident leadership style with the ability to guide and support less experienced engineers
