Job Description:

Key role supporting company growth, reporting to Group Engineering Director. Based in Head Office in Cork with travel to sites. Responsible for developing secondary steel design for MEP services on small and large scale projects. Main purpose is to interface with client's representatives and supply chain, collaborate with project manager and teams to review and manage project from inception to handover. May be required to work on rotation on European Projects.

Job Responsibility:

Liaise with Project Managers during design development to construction stage to ensure services support systems comply with regulations
Carry out preliminary designs and design checks on proposed support systems
Assess that secondary steelwork load is within capacity of primary structure
Carry out temporary works design
Liaise with Project Supervisor Construction Stage and Site Safety Manager
Package design work for formal checking
Ensure QA requirements associated with design work are fulfilled
Review construction drawings
Liaise with design team and project coordinator
Assist PM in assuring design responsibility is set out to subcontractor
Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
Close out of all project items
Issue Monthly Report to Project Manager
Develop and implement company procedures
Confirm builders works does not compromise primary structure

Requirements:

Degree qualified in Structural Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of design experience
Experience developing secondary steel design for MEP services
Experience working in structural steelwork, prefabrication, modularisation, or services
Sound Mathematical and IT skill, familiar with design packages and load capacity data sources
Understanding of site technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
Understanding of structural detailing and required calculations
