Job Description:

There is a great opportunity to join our Structural Engineering Team in Manchester. We are looking for a structural engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience who is passionate about creative design and structural analysis, who is interested in complex structures and the challenges that come with them, and have strong digital engineering and modelling skills. You will be based in our multidisciplinary Manchester office and will be working with us on the design of some of the most exciting and prestigious projects. As part of our team, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will be an important part a project team in delivering projects. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills continue to develop, and as you work and are supported beyond Chartership.

Job Responsibility:

  • Preparation of structural analysis models
  • Preparation of detailed structural calculations
  • Preparation of sketches and specifications
  • Work with all common structural materials, less ordinary and experimental ones
  • Use of appropriate software
  • Work across a variety of sectors
  • Assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy over time

Requirements:

  • MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Structural Engineering
  • Worked in a similar role previously
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Deep understanding of structural analysis, finite element modelling and structural design
  • Proficient in Tekla modelling
  • Organised and methodical in approach to managing tasks and priorities
  • Strive to meet deadlines
  • Close appreciation of the commercial factors which affect design solutions
  • Collaborative in nature
  • Able to empathise with clients’ needs
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders
  • Used to using initiative to overcome challenges
  • Positive, can-do attitude
