Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to lead a team responsible for performing comprehensive structural analysis and design for a wide range of building structures, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood. In this leadership role, you will oversee the team’s efforts to ensure all designs adhere to governing codes and standards while providing detailed construction administration support throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborating closely with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders, you will guide your team in delivering innovative and reliable solutions for diverse and complex projects. Job Responsibility:

  • Lead, mentor, and guide the structural engineering team to ensure high-quality deliverables and successful project outcomes
  • Foster continuous professional development by staying current with advancements in structural engineering practices, codes, and technologies
  • Act as a mentor to junior engineers, supporting their career growth and development
  • Conduct and oversee detailed structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures using industry-standard methodologies and software
  • Provide technical guidance during design phases, ensuring the development of integrated and innovative design solutions
  • Lead and participate in in-house design reviews, providing strategic input and quality assurance
  • Develop and refine non-standard calculation methods as needed for complex designs
  • Monitor project man-hour utilization and adjust as necessary to meet budget and schedule constraints
  • Act as or assist the Project Manager in ensuring projects are completed within budgeted hours and timelines
  • Provide strategic direction for project scope, budget management, and schedule oversight
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, project stakeholders, and consultants to ensure alignment on goals, expectations, and deliverables
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to create integrated design solutions
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions, verify compliance with specifications, and proactively address construction-related challenges
  • Ensure thorough construction administration support, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting structural inspections
  • Oversee the generation and maintenance of project schedules to align with goals and deliverables
  • Take ownership of project drawings and technical specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with building codes and standards
  • Answer bidder questions and contribute to addendum preparation as needed
  • Assist in marketing efforts, including interview representation and business development networking
  • Strengthen client and industry relationships to identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Represent the firm with a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Stay informed on industry advancements and disseminate expertise within the team
  • Adhere to company policies and support management decisions in a positive and professional manner

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Structural)
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Structural Engineer license in Oregon and Washington a must
  • At least 12+ years working with building structures
  • Excellent professional writing and communication ability
  • Experienced in Revit, RISA 3D, RAM, SAFE and ETABS
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
