The Structural Engineer will collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors to design new structural framing and foundations for architectural, industrial, and governmental facilities, as well as evaluate and design modifications to existing buildings to ensure their safety, functionality, and compliance with current standards.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors to design new structural framing and foundations for architectural, industrial, and governmental facilities
Evaluate and design modifications to existing buildings to ensure their safety, functionality, and compliance with current standards
Structural analysis and design of structural systems to meet load and serviceability requirements as well as architectural design
Evaluate structural deficiencies and provide rationale solutions
Work with REVIT technicians to develop structural plans and details
Edit structural specifications
Perform construction phase services – review shop drawings and submittals, respond to contractor’s requests for information, perform site visits, and write observation / field reports
Travel: Up to 10%
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in a U.S. state
5+ years of industry experience in structural design of building projects from initial concept through construction documents
5+ years of industry experience in assessments of existing buildings
5+ years of industry experience in design modification to existing buildings
Comprehensive understanding of structural engineering concepts, practices, and procedures
Competent in the design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structural components
Utilize structural analysis software to perform calculations and thoroughly interpret results to inform design decisions
Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications (Word / Excel) and working knowledge of Revit
Able to understand direction and communicate effectively through written documents, verbal instructions, and sketches
Familiar with interdisciplinary coordination with architects and other disciplines
Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.
Must be able to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering preferred
Experience with RISA and Revit is preferred
