The Stroke Fellow position is designed to provide advanced clinical training in both acute stroke care and general neurology. The fellow plays a central role in the management of stroke patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, developing expertise in emergency decision-making for thrombolysis and endovascular therapies, and gaining hands-on experience in neurodiagnostic procedures. With responsibilities that include ward rounds, consultations, and on-call duties, the fellow operates as a key member of the stroke team, progressively building autonomy in clinical judgment and procedural competence. Beyond clinical care, the role supports the fellow’s academic and professional development through active participation in clinical research, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives. As a sub-investigator in multiple trials, the fellow contributes to the advancement of stroke treatment while also engaging in the education of junior medical staff and students.
Job Responsibility
Manage stroke inpatients and participate in daily ward rounds
Participate in decision-making for thrombolysis and endovascular therapy
Regular attendance at outpatient clinics each week, including General and Headache
Gain expertise in care outpatient and inpatient with first line decision maker for Neurology and stroke on call cases (with stroke team support)
Requirements
Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Neurology/Stroke
Registration a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Have ongoing Modified Rankin Scale Certification
