Responsible for operating heavy construction and maintenance equipment in a variety of maintenance activities, including excavating, trenching, and street cleaning. Performs operations according to required standards and performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.
Job Responsibility:
Operate heavy construction and maintenance equipment including street sweeper, large trucks, front-end loader, patch units, water truck, road grader, skip loader
Operate power tools including concrete saws, chain saws and jack hammers
Complete scheduled sweeping routes
Provide traffic control for work sites and emergency call-outs
Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
Fill out work orders and input data into database
Provide on-the-job training to new personnel
Assist in City/public events set-up, tear-down and clean-up
Respond to emergencies requiring cleanup of debris
Inspect newly acquired subdivisions and roadway segments
Create and maintain route schedules
Monitor broom wear and coordinate replacements
Track water usage and material disposal for monthly reporting
Requirements:
Valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement
Minimum six months experience in a related field
Knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency
Ability to read manuals and specifications
Ability to perform general math calculations
Ability to write reports and work orders
Ability to interact and exchange information
Ability to obtain Traffic Control Technician Certification within 3 months
Nice to have:
Experience operating a street sweeper and completing assigned routes
Flexibility with schedule to work days, nights, and possibly weekends
Experience in setting up and removing traffic control
Ability to perform pothole patching and other street-related work
