Fleet Maintenance: provide preventive maintenance services such as oil changes and filter replacement, replace bearings, seals, belts, hoses, fittings, and other mechanical components, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues, maintain maintenance logs and service records, extend service life of vehicles and equipment
Lead Worker & Crew Coordination: serve as lead worker on street and stormwater construction and maintenance projects, plan, assign, and coordinate daily work activities, provide on-the-job guidance and instruction
Advanced Infrastructure Maintenance: perform advanced maintenance, repair, and replacement of streets, roadways, and stormwater drainage systems, inspect streets and drainage systems, perform complex pavement repair, pipe replacement, ditching, grading, and chip-and-seal operations
Advanced Equipment & Vehicle Operation: operate heavy and specialized construction and maintenance equipment, ensure routine inspection and preventive maintenance, identify equipment defects and coordinate repairs
Safety & Work Zone Leadership: establish, oversee, and adjust work zones and traffic control, ensure compliance with safety policies
Support Services & General Duties: assist with solid waste collection, facility support, or emergency response, maintain records, attend training, perform related duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum two (2) years as a Street & Stormwater Maintenance Worker II or two (2) years of comparable advanced public works or construction experience
Ability to meet the Physical Capacity Profile – Level 4 requirements of the position
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements
Must meet Level 4 in Department of Labor's Dictionary of Titles – Heavy Work exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam and essential functions test
Nice to have:
Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine operation, diagnostics, and repairs
Knowledge of drivetrain systems including transmissions, clutches, differentials, and axles
Experience serving as a lead worker or coordinating work crews
Experience operating heavy or specialized public works equipment
Knowledge of traffic control standards and work zone safety practices
