Permanent, full time Grade 3 Orthotist / Prosthetist position suited to experienced Orthotist commencing March 2026. Make an impact across our health service and the within the community providing positive patient outcomes. An opportunity to work with specialist multidisciplinary teams (Vascular, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation). As the Orthotist / Prosthetist Clinical Lead for Outpatients and Community Services, you will be recognised as a clinician with expert skills in complex orthotic management particularly in relation to neuromuscular conditions and high risk foot management. You will provide quality and patient-focussed orthotic and / prosthetic clinical services. This will include services predominently within the Orthotic Outpatient and Community Care Stream. You will also provide leadership within this stream building knowledge and skill within the team in a way which motivates and inspires others. You will also be expected to contribute to and influence service discussions related to your area of expertise. You will lead a specialised portfolio of work in conjunction with the manager who supports the entire O&P service.
Job Responsibility:
Provide direct clinical services to areas of Austin Health in accordance with case load requirements, including neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions, spinal cord injury and pressure injury and prevention
Provide clinical services in accordance with the professional and ethical standards of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association
Manage and demonstrate detailed assessment, care planning and intervention with attention to professional values, skills, knowledge, and theory
Assess patients’ functional status and provision of orthoses/prostheses for inpatients and outpatients referred to the Department, including planning, evaluation of treatment, and ongoing treatment plans
Provide leadership and supervision to clinicians working within the Outpatient and Community Care Stream
Actively contribute to the development and continuing improvement of the orthotics and prosthetics service
Requirements:
Masters of Clinical Prosthetic and Orthotics (or Bachelor equivalent)
AOPA membership with certification as an Orthotist / Prosthetist
7+ years of clinical experience
An interest in an area of clinical practice relevant to Austin Health (Musculoskeletal, Neuromuscular and pressure injury management)
Experience providing leadership and supervision
Skills in identifying and initiating opportunities for service development and improvement
Working knowledge of external funding streams such as NDIS, TAC, Work Cover and SWEP
