Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.  Together, we advance your career.  THE ROLE: The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for managing commercial activities, total cost and supplier performance for Contract Manufacturers(CMs).  Responsible to manage CMs as the global lead for the company. Drive supplier development through innovation and collaboration. This role will develop a global procurement strategy; implementing a supplier development program that has an integrated long-term approach on cost, quality, and service. Will be responsible to develop and manage the strategic supplier relationships. THE PERSON:  Drives both tactical and strategic sourcing deliverables. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for acquiring results. Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise but not limited to supply chain, board operations, engineering, finance, quality and legal teams. The position also requires strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to operate in a dynamic environment on multiple projects with competing or changing priorities. Job Responsibility:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholder(s) to understand and set cost targets for managed categories or CMs
  • Lead RFX process, analysis and price negotiation, cost reduction and business awards for key suppliers / CMs
  • Lead Supplier Performance Management (SPM) with key suppliers/CMs and manage the scorecard to review cost, technology, quality, service, and flexibility
  • Negotiating commercial agreements with suppliers, including unit pricing, NRE, CapEx and other agreements as applicable
  • Manage and drive supplier's performance to contractual requirements which meet AMD’s short and long term needs
  • Where applicable, implement contracts to minimize AMD’s risk and enable supplier accountability for non-performance
  • Identification and mitigation of potential supply continuity risks by implementing appropriate risk management strategies and contingency plans
  • Develop commodity strategy which fully reflects requirements of the stakeholders
  • Understand industry trends through on-going market research and benchmarking
  • Execute all activities associated with Procure-to-Pay such that orders are issued and invoiced in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective use of AMD strategic sourcing and Procure-to-Pay processes
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Leverage and apply solid understanding of contracting and negotiation, supplier relationship management to provide sustainable cost, quality, availability, and technology solutions with adherence to procurement policies
  • Partner with Finance and Legal to resolve disputes with CMs/suppliers

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree plus 12 years of experience in a related technical or business field OR MBA plus 5 years of experience in a related technical or business field
  • Excellent knowledge of Purchasing
  • Good knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) experience in semiconductor or EMS (Electronics Mfg Services) sector
  • HVM- Contract Manufacturing(CM) Services for Board Assemblies (PCBAs)/ Board components
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills
  • Effective leadership and project management skills
  • Consistently meets all aspects of Strategic Sourcing Manager role
  • Analytics, Process Mapping and SWOT analysis skills
  • Understanding of global/regional markets and cultures
