Carex is partnering with a Energy and Utility industry partner to hire a Project Manager within the Strategic Projects organization. This role is responsible for the successful initiation, planning, development, administration, risk management, implementation, control, and closure of medium to large-sized projects. The Project Manager will leverage established project management methodologies to achieve scope, schedule, and cost objectives while effectively managing risks and ensuring successful project delivery and transition.
Job Responsibility:
Apply established project management methodologies and processes (based on PMI standards) to deliver projects that meet defined scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives while proactively managing risk
Define business needs and project deliverables
establish and manage budgets, resources, timelines, performance metrics, and outcomes using appropriate project management tools
Conduct cost/benefit analyses and assess project feasibility as needed
Determine project resource requirements, including necessary skillsets and expertise, while identifying strategies to reduce overall project risk
Manage project-related contracts in partnership with sourcing personnel, including preparing RFPs, evaluating proposals, supporting negotiations, interpreting contract language, overseeing financials, and ensuring vendor compliance with specifications and schedules
Develop and execute communication and stakeholder management plans, providing consistent reporting on project status, risks, and progress in agreed-upon formats and frequencies
Ensure training needs are identified and addressed for project team members and end users
Lead project closure activities, ensuring operational readiness, completion of work orders, accurate financial reconciliation, reassignment of resources, proper documentation, and seamless transition of deliverables to operational teams
Incorporate organizational change management methodologies within project execution
Support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of PMO tools, templates, and processes as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in project management, information technology, engineering, or a related field
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing medium to large-sized projects
Strong ability to analyze and solve moderately to highly complex problems and implement effective solutions
Demonstrated expertise in organizing and documenting comprehensive project plans
Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction while maintaining accountability for outcomes
Effective leadership and team facilitation skills
Experience developing and applying performance measures to track project success
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Proficiency with standard business and project management software tools (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets, project management applications)
Ability to work effectively in a diverse and collaborative environment
