Airports are the "front door" to the Uber experience. For a traveler landing in a new city, that first ride is a critical moment of truth. In the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), our Airports and Travel Hubs represent one of our most complex and high-stakes strategic frontiers. As the Strategic Operations Manager for Airports, you will be the architect of this experience. You aren’t just managing a category; you are navigating the intersection of digital marketplaces and physical infrastructure. You will lead the strategy for some of the world’s busiest hubs, managing high-level partnerships with airport authorities, negotiating commercial deals, and ensuring that when a rider steps off a plane, their journey with Uber is flawless. This is a high-visibility role that requires a unique blend of "big picture" strategic thinking and "boots-on-the-ground" execution.
Job Responsibility:
Own the Partnership Strategy: Build and nurture senior-level relationships with airport authorities and travel hubs. You’ll lead joint business planning, negotiate commercial agreements, and ensure Uber is the partner of choice for DACH’s major gateways
Drive Growth & Performance: You own the P&L for the Airports portfolio. You will monitor marketplace health, track KPIs, and stack-rank opportunities to maximize rider acquisition, revenue, and reliability
Bridge the Physical & Digital: Uber doesn't just live in an app. You will optimize on-the-ground operations from signage and wayfinding to the design of pickup zones ensuring riders and drivers can find each other effortlessly in high-pressure environments
Scale Through Analytics: Use data to solve complex problems. Whether it's modeling the impact of a new fee structure or optimizing throughput during peak holiday seasons, your decisions will be backed by rigorous analysis
Lead Cross-Functional Impact: Act as the "General Manager" for your domain, collaborating with Product, Marketing, Legal, and Business Development to launch new features and regional campaigns
Requirements:
3+ Years of Experience: Background in technology, management consulting, or high-growth operational environments
Operational Excellence: You are a process-driven project manager who can turn an ambiguous business goal into a structured Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
Analytical Rigor: You are comfortable with data and can translate complex datasets into actionable recommendations
Strategic & Tactical Versatility: You can "see the forest and the trees" designing a 3-year roadmap in the morning and conducting an on-site signage audit in the afternoon
Collaboration & Communication: Ability to influence stakeholders across different cultures and functions
Language: Business-level proficiency in German (B2+) and English is required
Nice to have:
Data Tools: Proficiency in SQL (or a proven aptitude to learn it within your first 30 days) is highly preferred, as data-driven storytelling is core to the role
Industry Context: Previous experience in the travel, aviation, or logistics industries is a plus
